Who wants to make me a time machine?

So, a dream of mine has always been to be a journalist. I really have no idea why. When I was younger, I always made family newsletters and made my own weekly newspaper. Fast forward to today, I have no idea how to pursue this. I currently don't have the resources to go back to school and get a degree. Add this to the long list of things I wish I would have thought of 9 years ago.

New Camera

So, here is one of the first pictures from my new camera. Earlier, I realized that Freedom will be 6 months tomorrow.

Birthday Ideas

Still totally stumped over locations for Brye's birthday party. I don't want to do anything "commercial". I want to have an "Old Fashioned" type of party. My aunt Karen used to throw my cousins the BEST birthday parties ever.

Oh Joy!

So I went to rinse out Freedom's dirty diaper this morning, only to discover that the water froze last night. Well it has thawed out. . . now the pipes are busted. That makes the 3rd time this year we've had problems with the water itself. Not counting the lack of water pressure or the pipes becoming loose. What I wouldn't give for a new house with decent plumbing.

I Think I suck at Life.

I am unsuccessful. I suck at life and apparently everything I do. All I want to do is make something, it turn out right and be able to sell it. The things that do turn out right are just sitting in my etsy shop. I searched for other items that are similar to mine, and they are selling when mine are better quality. I have a few ideas, but every time I try I fail. I am just going to give up. It's not worth the headache and hassle. Etsy... yet ANOTHER thing I have failed at.

She Sat UP!!

You know you're a mom when you get excited over tiny things. Today as I was cooking Brandon's soup, Freedom finally sat up! She has been trying for a long time and she finally did it.

Our daily frustration.

If you even see the picture, this is the parking situation everyday when we drop off and pick up Brye. There are 2 rows to park in. One is a full row along the back side and the middle row is only about 1/4 of the length of the back row. It is handicap parking only. This van, as pictured, is in an imaginary parking spot. They are blocking access from that point on. I also have a picture of the license plate. They were obviously there before we got there, and they were still there when I left. I had to do a 47.5 point turn to get out. Thankfully the other parking spots next to me were empty.

In Honour of Veteran's Day

I was wanting to do something special for Veterans Day, or as I like to call it: Remembrance Day (since I am Canadian after all). I am planing on making some poppies for us to wear that day. There is a veteran who holds a special place in our hearts, Wiser Lee Shaw. Better known as Bill Shaw, or "Uncle Bill" to Brandon. He was in the navy during WWII. He served on USS Mack (DE 358). He told us many interesting stories, from "Banana Milkshakes", "Growing Coconuts, and drinking "green" beer and torpedo juice with Matthew. Unfortunately, he has passed away. I only wish that he could Brye and Freedom. They called Bill "Lucky" in WWII because he took a piece of shrapnel in his back. That is part of the reason that we call Brye "Brye". When choosing his name, the source of his whole name means "luck of the Irish." Brandon thinks that Bill would have liked "Freedom" because he fought for freedom.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Where did I come from?

So I thought this was going to have to go in a very odd direction. Stalling, I asked Brye where he thought he came from. "The mountains mommy, I come from the mountains!" It was so adorable. I have no idea where he came up with that. He is now obsessed with mountains. Every morning he asks if he can go home to the mountains.

Halloween!

So yes, I am late with the pictures. I have like 5o of them uploaded to myspace. Freedom was sick so we didn't take her out trick-or-treating. Brye had a ball. This was the first year that he really got what was going on.
